There was a knock at the door. Daniel looked around and realized he was the only one in the living room. He walked to the door and opened it; surprised at who it was.
“Where's Liz?” Vici asked putting her hand on her hip.
“What the fuck are you doing here?” Daniel couldn't believe it; he hadn't seen her since her and Shelby stopped talking 6 years ago.
“My sister lives here; as do my cousins.”
“Well they can come see you; you ain't welcome here.” Daniel said shutting the door and locking it. He walked into the kitchen to tell Shelby, but she wasn't back yet. Fuck!
“Who the fuck are you to kick my sister out?” Liz asked as Sasha walked down stairs.
“Oh, Grace came to visit you. That's nice.” Sasha said, her face quickly turning sour.
“Try again.” Daniel said staring at Liz. Daniel knew that if she was here when Shelby got home, things were going to get broken and blood will be shed.
“That bitch is not coming into this house. I don't give a fuck how mad you are at Shibbz. You don't disrespect her by bringing in some bitch she hates, especially when she's not home.” Sasha said getting herself some juice.
“That 'bitch' is my sister.” Liz replied, trying to be calm.
“I don't give a fuck. She's not welcome here and you know that!”
“Well since I live here, I get to invite people over if I want to.” Liz said walking toward the door.
“If you let her in, she better be helping you pack your bags. Because you will not be staying here.” Sasha said sitting on the couch, watching Liz's every move.
Sasha was sticking up for Shelby. It always happened. She was like a little sister to Sasha. She knew that if Shelby was here Liz would not have invited Sasha over. Why should they even let her in?
“I think, for the most part, it was a good day.” Lulu said pulling into the driveway.
Shelby nodded and looked at the house. “Who's that?”
“I don't know.” Lulu said shutting the car off.
Shelby stared a little longer, then gasped. “What the fuck is she doing here?” Shelby yelled looking over at Lulu.
“I don't even know who that is. I don't see why you're so mad.” He replied opening the door. Shelby pulled him close, causing him to close the door.
“Your cousin.”
“Oh shit.” Lulu replied as Shelby got out of the car. Lulu followed. She looked at him and took him hand. “Please don't say anything.” He whisper before they reached the steps.
Shelby took out her keys, opening the door and quickly closed the door in Vici's face.
“Thanks.” Lulu said kissing Shelby's cheek. She smiled and took a deep breath.
Daniel seen from the kitchen and walked over to her. “You might want to take a seat. Because she's mas.” Daniel said pulling Lulu away from Shelby.
“How do you know?”
“Just watch.”
“ELIZABETH LANIA PATTEN!” Shelby yelled, her face getting red. Daniel looked at Lulu and nodded his head.
Liz walked in from the back porch with Sasha. “What?” She asked annoyed.
“What the fuck is that fucking bitch doing here!”
“She's my sister! I can invite her over if I fucking want!”
“No you fucking can't! This isn't just your house! You can't just invite someone over because you like them. More people hate her than like her!”
“I don't fucking care is yall don't like her. She's my sister. So she can come over!”
“No she fucking can't! I fucking hate her and this house was my idea. So either make her leave or leave with her.” Shelby said putting her foot down.
“Shibb, you don't mean that.” Lulu said walking over to Shelby. He tried to put his arm around her but Shelby backed away.
“No, I mean it. She has Izzy back, and I fucking said I was sorry. All Izzy and I did was kiss anyways—Not like Liz and Mike hooked up!” Shelby said. She was mad and everyone knew it. The house started coming downstairs, taking their seats, watching Shelby and Liz,.
“You can't kick me out Shelby! You don't have all the power you think you do!”
“Test me.” Shelby said stepping toward Liz.
“What are you going to do Shelby? You gonna hit me?” Liz asked taking a step toward Shelby. She knew Shelby wouldn't swing.
Shelby looked back at Lulu and mouthed 'I'm sorry'. She turned back to Liz and punched her in the face. Liz was horrified. She was blind sighted. Shelby took the opportunity to push Liz on the ground and get on top of her.
“Shelby!” Daniel yelled as he and Lulu grabbed Shelby and Keith and Andy pulled Liz away.
“What the fuck is wrong with you?” Lulu asked holding Shelby's shoulders, looking her in the eyes.
“She brought her here. To my home...she knew how much it hurt losing her. She fucking sat on my bed with me and hugged me as I cried. How could she fucking do this to me? She already knew I was emotionally unstable. I fucking hate her!” Shelby said, wiping away tears.
“She did it out of anger. She didn't intentionally set out to hurt you Babe.” Lulu said.
“No. she did. And I fucking HATE her!” Shelby said stomping up to her room.
“She needs to calm down. She'll be fine.”Daniel said sitting back down.
“She's going to be my wife. I think I know how to handle this.” Lulu said turning toward him.
“Just saying. I know her best.”
“Newsflash! You weren't around enough to actually be her best friend. Hell, it's almost as if she seen Sasha more after she left than she seen you. You were never much of a friend to Shelby, let alone a best friend.” Lulu shot.
“That's only because you don't fucking understand the relationship we have. I don't have to see her everyday for her to know how much she means to me.”
“You mean way more to her than she does to you.”
“Yup. Remember that. Remember that I'll always come before you.” Daniel said with a sly smile.
There was a knock on the door and Shelby's head shot up. She wiped away the tears before yelling, “Go away.” The door opened and Keith walked in. “What do you want?” Shelby asked in a sour tone.
“You need to talk.” He replied taking a seat on the bed.
“I don't need to do anything.”
“Talk to me Shibbz.”
“Why? It won't help. It won't fix anything,”
“You don;'t know that. Try. Just try. It can't hurt.”
“What do you want me to say Keith? Me and Lulu got engaged last night. We told my parents and they accepted him. And you should have seen the look on Kathy's face. It was perfect. Then I come home and the person that ruined my childhood is standing there. Like, I don't even know how to process that!”
“How did she ruin your childhood? When I first met yall, you were her best friend.”
“Key word—were. We stopped talking years ago. She's my past.”
“Okay. I can tell you don't want to talk about her.”
“Duh Keith!” Shelby said laughing.
“Okay. So I was talking with Ruga last night before bed and he was telling me some stories.”
“About what?” Shelby asked with a smile on her face.
“You.”
“What the fuck was he saying?”
“Nah, he was just telling me how you've gotten around.”
“What the fuck do you mean I've gotten around?” Shelby asked, giving Keith a weird look. She had no idea what he could possibly be talking about.
“He said you've hooked up with him, Izzy, Drew and Ace.”
“The fuck? No!!!!!” Shelby said with a disgusted look on her face.
“That's what he's been saying.”
“Never! I made out with Izzy, as you know, and I would never get with Drew! Neverrrrr! And me and Ace kissed once when we were drunk but that's it.”
“Iight. I thought he was lying.” Keith didn't know who to believe. Ruga was his boy. What did he gain from lying? Maybe Shelby was just saying that to protect herself. If Lulu found out she'd have to explain herself.
But at the same time it didn't make sense that Shelby would do any of that. Sure she may be a freak, but all the boys knew she was spoken for. Ruga may have been the first to date her, but they all knew it was just an attempt to make Lulu jealous. She had no interest in any of them; except Lulu.
Liz walked out on the front porch and sat down on the steps. She looked up at Vici, tears in her eyes.
“What happened?” She asked sitting down next to Liz.
“You have to go.”
“I just got here.”
“I only invited you here because I was mad.”
“This is because of Shelby, isn't it. She told you to tell me to fucking leave! Didn't she? Didn't she Liz?”
“Yes. It's either you leave or I leave.”
“So you're just gonna fucking kick me out?”
“It's not like you wanted to fucking come here anyways. You'd rather hang out with Lexi, Brittany and Amanda! You never hang out with me anymore.”
“Because we just don't hang out with the same people anymore Liz. You have problems with my friends and I definitely have problems with your friends.”
“Yeah I know...things aren't like they used to be.” Liz said, starting to reminisce in the past. It's what Liz often did when she was sad.
“Yeah. There's nothing we can do to change the past. We all went our separate ways. It's happened before, and with your new friends—it will happen again.” Vici said walking down the steps.
Liz sat there thinking. First it was Shelby, Liz, Vici, Kirstin, and Heather. Then it went to Shelby, Liz, and Vici. It flipped to Shelby, Liz, Vici, Brittany, and Amanda. Then Vici's friend Lexi came into the equation, and that’s when things started to go south. It's something that Shelby will never talk about, something that she chooses to not think about anymore. She'll sit there and tell you that her and Vici are no longer friends because of a fight they had over Lulu. But really it was because of Lexi and the new found relationship with Vici. It was a fight that was building up. The group switched to Vici, Brittany, Lexi, and Amanda. And then you have Shelby, Sasha, Chanel and Liz.
Liz never really fit in with Vici and her goof-troop. They have a different way of living life then Liz has. They don't drink, don't smoke, and they sure as hell don't party. Liz fit in perfectly with Shelby, Sasha and Chanel. She couldn't lose them. At the moment; they were all she really had. She needed her Wiferz back...
